UK 383367 is a novel, potent procollagen C-proteinase (PCP) inhibitor with an IC50 of 44 nM. In the fibroplasia model, UK 383367 inhibited deposition of insoluble collagen by 76 ± 2% at 10 μM. UK 383367 was very effective at penetrating human skin in vitro with a transepidermal delivery flux of 1.5 μg/cm2/h, which compares favorably with values for agents that are known to penetrate skin well in vivo.UK 383367 is used for the treatment of post-surgical dermal scarring. UK 383367 is selective for BMP-1 over MMPs 1, 2, 3, 9 and 14 (IC50 >10 μM for them).
